Having worked for several years in food retail in the United Kingdom, Zubar Raziq decided to join Alshaya as a category manager in 2010 as part of the team to start up the popular gourmet retailer, Dean & Deluca, in Kuwait.
In his role with Dean & Deluca, which belongs to the rapidly growing Food Division, Zubar oversees the necessary and tactical direction of product lines. He supports his team in introducing new products and selecting which ranges to include across three markets.
“I have had so many positive experiences with Alshaya,” Zubar said. “Working in a developing market keeps me on my toes with fresh challenges and varied obstacles. In addition to my role as category manager for Dean & Deluca, I now have the privilege to help start up some new food retail brands signed to the division.”
With each day presenting new opportunities, Zubar recognises that he is part of an exciting period in Alshaya's growth as a company.
“There is tremendous room to achieve my goals here, and Alshaya gives me the freedom for autonomy in my role,” he said. “I am encouraged to find resolutions and think independently in my position, while simultaneously working as part of a structured, systematic operation and helping my division reach its bottom line.”
